RELIANCE presents the story of Matthew Zarrella, a Rhode Island State Police Sergeant who rehabilitates “pound dogs” and partners with them to aid individuals in crisis, missing in action, or victims of violence.  One of Matthew’s most notable recoveries with his dogs is that of a missing US Soldier shot down in Vietnam, 1966.  Matthew and his dog Maximus located the remains of US Air Force Captain David J. Phillips, Jr. in February 2003.  Phillips’ remains were returned to his family in 2005.
